My Approach

I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, contextual and resilience-based perspective. I attempt to move beyond a focus on symptoms to help clients develop a deeper understanding of their concerns and identify the adaptive functions that symptoms serve in the context of stress and trauma, paving way for new behavioral patterns.  Furthermore, I am a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner and use the SE™ modality to support healing by gently tuning in to bodily sensations to process trauma and develop regulating capacity. SE™ is a body-oriented psychotherapeutic modality that was developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine, author of Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma and In an Unspoken Voice: How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness. I have also completed Level 1 and Level 2 of Dr. Janina Fisher's Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment, which is a trauma-informed, parts-based approach for trauma recovery and management of self-destructive behaviors. Finally, I integrate psychodynamic and multicultural frameworks, as well as CBT and DBT skills, to support clients in long-lasting healing.

If you are interested in working together, please contact me to set up a free 15-minute consultation. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule one or a few initial sessions where we can get to know each other and collaboratively develop a plan for working together. It is important to me that you make the right choice about your treatment, and I would be happy to provide you with other treatment options if we are not the right fit for each other.
